„Bajka in Wonderland“ is the first and long awaited solo-album by the well-known singer Bajka. She is the singer with that unique voice (the one you recognize immediately and will never forget...) She has been recording and releasing music for almost 15 years, doing features for other artists like Bonobo, Radio Citizen, Beanfield, etc., but has never released an album under her own name.

The lyrics for the album are all taken from „The Hunting of the Snark“, a whimsical poem written by Lewis Caroll, author of „Alice in Wonderland“. And the musicians managed to write a song for every chapter of the poem, covering the whole opus.

The core group is Bajka (vocals), Daniel Regenberg (piano, rhodes) and Jerker Kluge (double-bass), together with superb drummer Philipp Bernhardt. They play in a very Jazzy way, adding influences from hip-hop, funk, rock, latin and soul. The use of a string quartet and a horn section (flutes and saxes) additionally contributes to the ageless, dreamlike quality of the work.

By using these lyrics and their very own creative writing and orchestration, they created an „album“ , not only an accumulation of different tracks. You can listen to it from the start to finish, following the different moods that are evoked by the music while enjoying the whole thing as a coherent work of art.
This is an album in the classical meaning, a timeless piece of work that stands up for itself with its unique style.

Bajka has worked with Radio Citizen (Ubiquity), Bonobo (Ninja Tune), Aaron Jerome (BBE), Beanfield & Ben Mono (Compost), the Whitefield Brothers and just recently the Una Mas Trio (Agogo) and Dalindeo (Ricky Tick).
She is the daughter of Uve Müllrich, a member of the German band Embryo and founder of the band Dissidenten. She was born in India, and grew up in Portugal and South Africa. She now lives in Berlin.

Jerker is a well known Jazz bass player in the Munich Jazz and funk scene and takes his part on the recordings and compositions of Deep Jazz, The Hi-Fly Orchestra, The Boogoos, and Cesar´s Salad, to name just a few.

Daniel, who also lives in Berlin, is a versatile jazz piano player and also makes music for ballet, theatre and film productions as well. He is currently working as a director on his first film „Frappé“.
