Zapp4 is a band with the line-up of a string quartet. It combines groove, improvisation, and fantasy with passionate solos. “Zapp4 is a beautiful example of the typical Dutch tradition of non-categorized music between composed and improvised music, jazz and pop”, states newspaper NRC.

After the highly successful album “We Suck Young Blood” with arrangements of songs by Radiohead, Zapp4 now releases “In Bloom”. It is their interpretation of the songs of Nirvana, garagerock avant la lettre. In the case of Zapp4 you might call it ‘Chamber Grunge’. 

Zapp4: 'We all where teenagers in the nineties and the music of Nirvana was an important musical influence for us. Growing up and listening to Nirvana gave us the strong impulse to dive into their powerful music.” Hits like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are and Lithium are part of the quartets DNA and rearranged for groovy, punky strings.
